My instincts tell me the above line is a lie.

I'll bet she's been mentally ill for years but finally had an episode that was so obvious that it couldn't be explained away.

And they think I'm going to take the opinions of a mentally ill person seriously?

Uh, her perception of reality is, uh, not accurate. And uh, her opinions about things are, uh, opinions out of a mind that is not well.

I took prednisone for 7 years due to ulcerative colitis. I have never ever heard of this side effect. I also have a brother who is bi polar, and I have never heard of steroids triggering this. I did read an article once that stated that cocaine and/or serious emotional trauma (death of a loved one) could trigger bipolar disorder in a person who was already predisposed to getting it.

I hope a doctor responds to this. I'd like to know for sure, one way or another.
