50% vs 57% ? Hardly good news - but have you added the additional govt 'mandates' that also drive up costs? We would probably be at 80% confiscation then!

Well - that is STILL socialistic confiscation and re-distribution of personal assets.

Even G_D only asks for a tithe - what give govt the audacity to claim to have a greater need than that?

EVEN IF it was 50% sales tax, i'd prefer that to the the current system.

I'm paying close to that in Federal/FICA/Medicare/Whatever anyway (not considering my employers share), and at least on the income I have the option of buy as much as I want, or as little as I need.

And I wouldn't have the IRS potentitally climbing up my ass every year with a microscope after I manditorily waived all of my 5th ammendment rights. Hell, they don't even cut you a break on honest mistakes. Ever withheld $1 less than you were supposed to from one of your employees, or deposited the payroll taxes at the wrong branch a day after a cutoff time because payroll landed on the cusp of the quarter?

The IRS is a rough machine of walking due-process violations. An indignity to even law-abiding Americans, considering that nobody can be in complete compliance with 100% of the 7,000 pages of code unless you just send your whole check to them and live in a box on the sidewalk (and even that is illegal in most states).

I'd be willing to pay extra for the freedom.
