The whole notion of aliens visiting Earth is ridiculous. If there was a civilization out there so advanced that they could master interstellar travel, they would have no interest in visiting us - a hopelessly primitive society by their standards.

If in 1000 years, the people of earth achieve the technology for interstellar travel, and we finally located a planet occupied by what we believe is a lower life form, and within our reach, would you suggest that we would just pass on making the trip?

Alien life in any form would clearly be of trememdous interest to us, no matter how primitive or even unintelligent. For that matter, planets or worlds without life would be of interest.

It's not unreasonable to think the same would be true for other intelligent life forms.
