In the last four years, according to the astronomy sites I visit, there were two "near-misses" from The Void. Not the earth-busters everyone hopes for (and they do), but ones that could force you to cancel your travel plans.
And as far as these "codex" books go: I was at Sam's not long past, and picked one up; the author's words were, "George Bush stole the election - it was predicted!"
I hid it behind "Two Towers". At least Professor Tolkien admitted he wrote fantasy.
I like to point out that Nostradamas was really good at predicting "recent" events. Predicting the future is a whole different ball game.
