This fellow guarding his house is like many folks down these parts -- he is about as non-P.C. as you can get, and with very little provoking will probably ante up an ass-whuppin' to prove it. Folks around here are nice as can be, but they're old-school -- you threaten them or try to steal their stuff, they'll kill ya, and chances are good the A.G. will not prosecute. You can see why people from blue zones vacationing here walk around kind of softly.
This old fellow and his son also went through Andrew in 1992, where they got cleaned out by looters. He's not about to make the same mistake twice.

Considering the "disaster" and past lootings, Floridians might react like New Yorkers did over Bernard Getz(sp?).
I think it was in the late 70's. He was a subway robbery victim that shot his robbers - he'd been robbed in the past, etc. Initially at least, he was a hero.
But then even he lost out in the end. I don't remember the details, but the Feds punished him.
