I've always gotten a sense of awe from the sound of weather folks' voices when they mention Camille.

As a kid, I passed through Biloxi a few months after Camille struck (while on a family vacation). I'm not sure if I was so awestruck because of my young age or because it was THAT bad, but it was amazing. I can remember several huge boats being stranded and broken into pieces, sitting hundreds of yards inland. Actually, at that age, they looked like SHIPS to me!

All you FReepers in Florida... we're all praying for you. Keep your heads down and we'll talk to you on the other side of the storm!

Charleston was that way after the last big cane there (Hugo?). They found boats all over the place.
