Saw that! Loved the comment he made that he was happy the tree was doing well.
Yeah it does well until it drops a limb on your cranium...

I was expecting a scene from 'Twister' there..I keep thinking about that preview from "Day After TomorrOW" where the reporter gets nailed by a sign...

>>the eye of hurricane Gloria passed right over us
Same for me, but we were about 15 miles inland in CT. The eye is pretty creepy.

We just got home ten minutes ago...did I hear correctly that the storm could be approaching a Category 5 or is that hype?

The satellite real images show that it has already broken up..dispersing over central Florida...hope that it's true and the media hype is not. ridiculous..its only a few miles inland.

To: gopwinsin04
Youre right, storm surges for a Cat 5 are usually above 18 ft. Correct, Camille came in with a 25 ft storm surge and waves 25 feet on top of that... amazing. She was also a "tightly" wrapped storm. The pressure was in the upper 800's and dropping when she entered Mississippi.

That movie...LOL...good grief. Oh brother...small town theater had Garfield and the Great Kyoto Scare flick...should've had a corn dog at the county fair instead.

145 MPH ground winds so it's close. Hard to tell what it'll do at landfall, but it has a real tight eye yet.
The biggest problem looks to be massive storm surge up Charlotte Harbor...

He'll have more energy to reform and become even more dangerous to the Carolinas and points north. wrong. wont be anywhere near this strong towards the carolinas...hundreds of miles of land to cross and upper level environment will be transitioning the storm to extratropical by that time......

I went to K-Mart this afternoon to get my son a last minute birthday present and in the front of the store they had a big display with propane, lanterns, batteries, flashlights etc. I thought "What the *&%^"? Now I'm thinking maybe I need to go do some inventory on supplies before there is a run on the stuff.
