Anyone remember episode 3 (I think) of Band of Brothers where Popeye (shot in the rear end) asked that unscupulous guy how many Purple Hearts he had?

I remember it, but not that the guy in hospital with three PH's was unscrupulous; Popeye said "You have no shame," but they were laughing about it -- the 3-PH guy actually did have three wounds (one being a boil) and it seemed he couldn't help it that he had them; they set up that scene to point out the discrepancy between types of wounds and medals and how they don't reflect degree of injury. At least the BoB 3 PH guy actually spent time in the hospital.

Just saw Jeh on Fox and Friends. Looks like the Kerry camp has finally come up with a story to explain away Christmas in Cambodia.

Here's how it goes: Kerry has corrected the record about Christmas. He was not in Cambodia on Christmas eve of '68, but he was there on some subsequent date. He got his dates mixed up.

Aren't purple hearts awarded based on wounds recieved from enemy fire? Wouldn't a boil that developed on your foot be outside of that parameter?

Yeah, you're right though, that guy at least required a hospital stay for his wounds. Weren't the 1st and 3rd of Kerry's PHs tiny wounds, that didn't require hospitalization, only forceps to pull out shrapnel, and then a band-aid to cover them? 50 bucks says if anyone of us had the audacity to request PHs for wounds like that, we'd have been laughed out of the CO's office.
