You seem really interested in gaining some type of response from someone over a speculative nuclear strike on a city for someone who just signed up a few days ago.

I'm not flaming you, but I;ve seen quite a few newbies coming on FR in the various forums and trying to get people to make stupid "kill em all" statements so they can run off to another forum and discredit the poster, or discredit FReepers as a bunch of extremists.

You want my response to what would happen if that scenario took place? I'll give it to you.

If some group/organization detonated a 10KT tactical nuke or a similar type of weapon on our soil, my first concern would be the preservation of American life by any means possible. This means rescuing the innocent victims, treating them, and helping them recover from the attack. .

Second concern would be finding out exactly who did it, and determining if there were any state sponsors behind them. If they used nuclear weapons, you can bet there is a nation behind them, because terrorists cannot afford the billions of dollars it takes to develop reliable nuclear weapons.

When you do find out who did it, and have enough evidence to prove it beyond the shadow of a doubt, you retaliate with the appropriate weapons array and military options and you limit the scope of the force to those who are guilty of killing your countrymen. If we kill innocents, we are not keeping the best traditions of America, and we are just as bad as the enemy.

You dont kill millions of Arabs because you are pissed. Only a three year old would do this. You bury your dead with respect, firm your resolve to win the war instead of fighting a limp wristed girly man "police action" and you take the battle to the enemy until they scream for unconditional surrender and wish no further part of you in warfare ever again.

What you dont do is debate it death, politicize it, slander your soldiers, engage in lawfare and endless politically oriented lawsuits, and engage in anything that can aid and comfort the enemy, or anything else that sends the signal that we are indecisive and weak. You fight to win, and you match their force with yours in equal proportions.

Thats my answer and I am sticking to it.

The very problem is non state entities likely have a weapon - perhaps already in the U.S. NEST and others are very active and have been for quite a while. Cops in NYC have been wearing radiation detector badges for many months, etc.

Scenario one: let's say ground zero were a Wahabbi mosque in LA. Who do we retaliate against?

Scenario two: Valid U.S. intelligence shows a top AQ operative in Sioux City, IA. He has a Ph.D. in nuclear physics and is suspected of helping acquire nuclear technology. A week later Sioux City no longer exists.
Who do we retaliate against?

Scenario three: A nuclear bomb detonates in Key West. A previously unknown islamic group claims credit and provides proof. Who do we retaliate against?

I'm not trying to be argumentative. I'm just throwing some questions out into the FR Ether.
