I tend to agree with your view on this one, but it sure isn't an exact match.

I've been checking other parts of the world on maps and can't come up with any closer match.

Aha. Vel, what about this map below? It looks like that homemade pic could be the state of Minnesota going eastward and ending where the north part of Lake Superior (the first lake por the uppermost lake) stops. In other words, the border of the state of Minnesota blends in and becomes the border of Lake Superior; there are even those 2 small bump things tilting right at the end of the lake as in the homemade drawing. So, it would be a pic of the state of Minnesota's northern border into the northern (Canadian) border of Lake Ontario. What do you think?
