One crashed in the ocean, off California and it was a Mexico flight.

Yeah, that was Alaska Air Flt 261. Alaska was found guilty by the Feds for fraudulent record keeping. As far as I know, they were never close to being Bankrupt, in fact they are making profits and growing everyday. I can't remember any other Alaska plane problems though,except for the plane crash in Alaska 20 years ago.

At the time of the Alaskan airplane crash, I got my news from the radio and for a very long time, there were mechanical problems on many of the planes.

It always hit me, as it was my job at the casino to meet the guests who came on the "package trips", so it had/has a meaning to me.

I thought that I had heard they were either bought or merged with another airline. At the time I heard that, I wondered if they would change the name of the company.

There is something about a MD-80 in my mind, that happened in the Dakota area maybe. It is possible that I am crediting all the MD-80 plane problems to Alaskan Air, in my mind.

Oh, well not that important to the days news.
