Does anyone recall the trouble that Alaska Airlines had about 3 years ago.

It was one of those, " and the _____fell off", they lost one passenger plane in the ocean off California, flight 80, maybe, as it is all from a memory that I didn't expect to use.

As my memory digs, I see a "jack screw", on the rear of the plane, the screw was long, what I think of as 6' long.

The company had meaning to me, as it flew in party groups to the Casino that I worked at, in Laughlin.

For a while, almost every plane they put in the air, either crashed or had mechanical problems.

Note: this is all from a half cup of coffee memory, and I will bet that some of you will know even more about it than I can recall.

That was Aloha Air I believe in the late eighties. The stuck jackscrew was flight 261 Alaska that went down killing 88 off of PT Mugu,CA.
