N.K. Ban on Chinese Prompts Speculation on Political Event

TOKYO, Aug. 20 (Yonhap)

North Korea has banned Chinese tourists from visiting the isolated communist state as of Friday, a local daily reported, triggering speculation that the North will soon hold an important political event.

Quoting informed sources, Tokyo Shimbun said North Korea's tourism authorities have sent a fax message to the provincial government of China's Liaoning Province, which borders North Korea, informing them of the decision.
