There are still only the initial AP copies of the Dover story. The channel 3 link is still up, but it's disappeared from their front page.

Suspicious Package Empties Capitol Area in Dover (Delaware - 8/18/04 Updated Info.)

By MIKE CHALMERS and KRISTIAN POPE Staff reporters 8/18/2004

DOVER — Police cordoned off a four-square-block area around the state capitol complex and evacuated workers and residents this morning because authorities found a suspicious package at the Delaware Federal Credit Union nearby.

Delaware State Police bomb technicians arrived at the scene about 9:45 a.m.

Dover police said a credit union employee reported a suspicious package about 7:20 a.m. Police arrived to find a shoebox-sized package wrapped in brown paper on the front steps of the Water Street building.

The package has some type of label, possibly an invoice label, that is visible, police said. No mailing address or return address was visible, but may be underneath. Officers did not move the package and called the state police bomb squad.

Geraldine Howard, who works at the law firm of Brown Shiels Beauregard and Chasanov on Water Street, said police had already blocked Legislative and Court streets when she arrived for work at 8 a.m.

About 45 minutes later, police told the 10 people in her office to leave and wait in the parking lot behind the building. About 9:30 a.m., police returned and told them to go to Federal Street, about two blocks away.
