There was a freeper on the hurrican thread talking about his parents/grandparents? living in a small house there. They refused to leave and wouldn't board up because they'd never been hit by a storm. I hope they're ok.
Charlie is a bad hurricane to cut your teeth on.
A cat four with winds like Charlie can sweep your house right down to the concrete slab or foundation.
I hope and pray those family members are safe.
We're getting reports of massive damage in Port Charlotte ... I don't think we'll really comprehend how bad it was till tomorrow morning. Already, I've seen pictures of homes and businesses that look like they were bombed.
I think this is who you might have been asking about...everthing's fine...see below! I went on a look for an update on 'em, too.
My in laws are in North Port. About 10 miles from Venice and a couple of miles from Port Charlotte. Just talked to them on the phone and they said the hurricane is going to miss them. Supposedly they are watching their local weather. They haven't taken any precautions, no boarding of windows, nothing. Are they in trouble from what you can gather about the storm?

Just spoke to in laws in North Port. They still have power, no flooding, and just a small branch down. So, North Port made it through the storm, for those having family and friends in that area.
