Wow! Just a reminder - there are other races this year, and in 2006. The Republican Central committee always has about ten vacancies for its 150 seats. The RKBA folks have about 50, while the gun-grabbers have about 90. Somebody picked Deb Pryce, after all. So if we pick up the 10 vacancies, and another 16 contested, can keep AWB out of it.

If Ohio goes Kerry, Bush is done. But if Bush takes PA - it will be tough because this year he doesn't have Santorum to help, Kerry could take Florida and still lose. Bush took 271 in 2000 - he gets another 7 from the census, PA has 21, while FL has 27. I've heard the Amish are voting this year. Will they vote Kerry because of war? Or Bush on other issues? I know that among my Mennonite friends Bush gets very little support.

Any way, it's going to be a long night in November. As Stalin said, it doesn't matter who votes, it matters who counts the votes.

I haven't kept close contact with my Amish/Mennonite side of the family since my mother died but I would assume the idea of the Amish voting is more hearsay that fact. I'd think one would convert to Mennonite before having much of anything to do with the "English". Mennonites on the other hand are a problem for the Bush camp. Their pacifism runs deeper than their traditional values. Given a choice between War and gay marriages they'd take the second (not trying to bad mouth, just stating my perception).

Back on the subject of the thread, down here in the hills of OH, I can't come up with an idea of how things are going. The intelligent Dem's I know are in great numbers backing Bush. Conversely I've heard several life-long republicans afflicted with the ABB syndrome. Not because of the war but because of the economy. Funny thing this ABB thing, no amount of logic can seem to penetrate! I'd like to think that logic will prevail but Portsmouth just got finished recalling their Mayor on allegations and inuendo so I've got a real weak faith in logic around these parts right now.
