The GOP knows that some Wisconsin voters are willing to vote Libertarian. Does that justify using Democrat-style tactics?
That's impossible. Conservative libertarians don't believe in turning to government as the first solution for problems, we're not in favor of subsidized [insert anything that can be subsidized], we believe in property rights, and we like guns.
Therefore, we aren't liberal. Concentrate on the real enemy.
Point is, if you're going to file a complaint against a candidate, it should be a REAL one.
One of our guys is running for a county commissioner seat. One of his opponents had signs printed up that failed to include the "Paid for by..." disclaimer at the bottom. We COULD make a stink about it, but we're not going to, even though that legalese IS required for most candidates' advertising.
In the Wisconsin deal, though, that's just petty BS. And the Republican candidate is in favor of abuse of eminent domain, something no libertarian is EVER in favor of.
It isn't just about eminent domain.
The big city in my area, Springfield, Missouri, has jumped on the liberal touchy-feely bandwagon and proposed banning smoking in ALL privately-owned establishments.
Now, you can't smoke in City Hall, or the post office, and that's okay. But if I owned a restaurant, a bar, or a cigar store - especially there - then I have the right to determine whether or not I will allow smoking in MY place of business.
But, since property rights aren't really all that important, I guess I'd have to let the local lawmakers run roughshod over my business and my clientele. Comply and obey, it's for "the common good".
"The needs of the many..." [expletive deleted]
I suppose they are simply aghast at the idea of the government NOT having total control over every aspect of a person's life.
you're not very civil are you? I guess most self-rightious people aren't are they?
You're the guy who posts from your parents' garage on Friday and Saturday nights, and you';re calling other people dorks?
Beat it scrub.
Considering tht the owner of this website has no problem with dopians being on here, and the fact that you stikll don't apear on the FR donor's list, perhaps you are not the idel candidate for deciding who should and should not occupy FR.
The guy you're conversing with is one of the three top gun-grabbing socialists on FR.
Whaddup Al Gore
Do you use the same arguments for gun laws?
Where did this race happen?
And oh, I know about "stealth" people, socialist or otherwise. My state LP had to boot out a rabid racist named Martin Lindstedt. Somehow, he managed to get on the last ballot as a REPUBLICAN guv candidate! If I were in the Missouri GOP, I wouldn't have let this guy run.
I'd go wih "guy who desperately needs to get laid".
I'm waiting for a pamphlet to be mailed to me, explaining the government regs and specs of installing new rolls of Charmin on the dispenser peg. Also, I'm not sure which direction the twisty-tie on a bag of bread should be turned; I need guidance on this matter.
Should I mow the yard clockwise our counter-clockwise? I don't want to be breaking any laws when it comes to lawn maintenance. Hope my shaving schedule is up to government guidelines. Oops, I haven't sorted my socks for weeks! Will the Homeland Footcovering Storage Authority write me a ticket?
It hasn't gotten THAT silly... yet. Thank God.
"We're the government, and we're here to help... ourselves to your tax money and autonomy. Join us. It's blissful. Here, insert this ice pick into your frontal lobes..."
His Republican opponent (Sheryl Albers) seems to me to be acceptably conservative...and I fancy myself a strict-constructionist. I live in their district and would make a great libertarian, but I feel that the libertarians and republicans should duke it out only after the liberals have been dispatched...and that ain't gonna happen anytime soon here in the peoples republic of wisconsin, til then, voting libertarian will only help elect demons.
Excellence In Posting. BANG!
Anyone who even bends on the sanctity of property rights, especially with a socialist-flavored "Smart Growth" name, should be suspect. If that's her only flaw, still that's too great a compromise. Liberals LOVE erosion of property rights, and if they get their hands on those laws, they'll pervert them to fit their agendas.
So, you live up in that district. What's the real reason the GOP has it in for Kuester, to the point of filing complaints about his website content? I checked it out, and if the beef is with the comments about public servants being "pigs at the trough", and Kuester didn't name anyone specifically, then the GOP up there just made themselves look foolish. People have been saying for DECADES that politicians are pigs that feed off our largesse; hell, Will Rogers made a living saying that.
I notice the GOP up there were upset over Kuester putting the word "bill" in place of the word "law", in reference to getting rid of the Smart Growth nonsense. Was that really a good reason for a complaint to the election commission? That's like a liberal whining that you didn't dot the "i".
My theory is it's revenge for Ed Thompson's last showing. How close am I?
Would've been more excellent if he'd been posting it at a liberal. Otherwise, it was an unwarranted waste of time, and an unprovoked attack to boot.
You're right on the money...Ed is why we have Doyle as governor... I'd have prefered Ed over McCallum, yet we got Doyle. You've made my point.
