Eaker, and all fellow Freepers,

HELP !!...I have been surfing the TV since 3:30pm yesterday, when I saw CNN Inside Politics with Judy Woodruff, conducting the first (that I saw on TV),Swift-Vet vs. the "graduate of the Mary Jo School of Swimming" SF Rassman(sp?)....(transcript was on cnn site, and the "Swift Vet" did quite well).

Well ....today,on cnn headline news, and on cnn,the news brief about the Swift-Vets,were mainly : McCain has DENOUNCED AND DISCREDITED the "Swift-Vets"
as "lying" and has asked Bush to tell them to stop.....

THEN , as an "add-on",QUICKLY threw in something like (and this ain't a quote, BUT IT IS CLOSE!!!!,):

"..and this is the same group who ran the ads against mccain in NC in 2000 prez primary that COST mccain his chance in the 2000 rep.primary.

Is this true????,,,and is this why mccain went TOTALLY
"NUCLEAR" so darn fast???...I haven't seen where mccain & kerry were on any "missions" together while they served, so why would mccain "go-off" on 250 vets who did???

geezz...Can anyone HELP ME FIND OUT who did the "ads" in 2000 against mccain in the North Carolina repub primary???

If someone could, I would be appreciate it.....Thanks!

I dont recall the ad agencies but Rush has stated that it is not the same agency that ran ads against McCain.

I dont think Mc Cain called the vets liars. He just called on the ads being denounced.

Its my opinion that he thinks he looks bad after McCainFiengold if these soft money ads run rampant

I heard Savage say it was a "whisper campaign". Sounds like it wasn't ads.

McCain has just been on this "negative" ad kick and how that's what got him in the primary in NC in 2000. That's why he wanted CFR to prevent negative ads. But, he forgot about the 527's --- what a mess McCain/Feingold have brought on.

Just think if this were close to the election (30 days), we couldn't answer back. The newspapers/media could run all the negative articles disguised as factual and we regular people have no recourse. That's just generally how I understand it --

***Rush said that McCain was wrong about these vets being the same ones who attacked McCain when he was running.***

Rush said that McCain has it wrong - this is not the group that ran ads against him. As a matter of fact, the publicity agency is the one that ran ads FOR him. However, I think that the Republican contributor who has supplied a large chunk of the financing for the VETS might be the one who financed ads against McCain. Anyway, who cares? The important thing is the content of what the VETS are saying. McCain is irrelevant - he wasn't there and these VETS were.
