"his non-Christmas appearence was to blast the hollywood phonies."
You're attacking a straw man. I told you I understand that they are conservatives. My point is just that I would like to see something good/wholesome coming out of the entertainment industry and as conservatives I would hope that these guys would take the lead on this sort of thing. Maybe Mel Gibson could do something?

watch every SP through to the last 2 minutes. there's the wholesome you need for the 15-99 crowd. anyone old enough to watch the rest can appreciate the last few minutes.

Well, the problem is, most people in this country appear to not want such things. If they did, all of the network channels and more of the cable channels would be like the Hallmark or Family channels. Executives have a choice - make a lot of money putting out raunchy/adult subject matter, or get stuck working on the Hallmark movie of the week making a tenth of the money. Last I checked, Hallmark's movie of the week wasn't bringing in millions per thirty second spot (okay, I'll admit it, I never looked into Hallmark's or Family Channel's advertising rates).

I'm not defending their decisions on some of the topics South Park has covered, nor am I saying they are simply doing it for the money (although there is nothing wrong with going after the money, this is American after all), nor is it trash. I am, in fact, glad that South Park exists. Not because it's funny (although it certainly is), but because it fills a niche that few other shows do - ridiculing all aspects of American society to the extreme (especially the liberal aspects). Sometimes people need to see things mocked to the extreme before understanding just how bad they really are.

Not everyone who is Republican/Conservative/Libertarian wants a diet of just Bran Flakes. That is one of the worst stereotypes about conservatives; that we think "why did the chicken cross the road" is racey. As you can see by this thread, many of FR's inhabitants like lewd, raunchy, toilet humor sometimes.

'Scuse me, I gotta go back to torturing my boss with my singing of the Brian Boitano song.
