Apparently, this is the line that is being taken by all the MSM news outlets. Someone on another thread mentioned the same deceptive title from CBS.

Actually, I think they are targeting a very small group of voters, the undecided voters, which are probably less than 10% of the voters.

"We have been very clear in stating that, you know, we will not and we have not and we will not question Senator Kerry's service in Vietnam," spokesman Scott McClellan said as US President George W. Bush (news - web sites) made a campaign stop here.

This is hardly a repudiation of the ad. It's a simple statement that they aren't the ones doing it, not that they don't believe it, or that they think it shouldn't be done.

Matter of fact, if scumbucket non-veteran Michael Moore, can criticize the President of the US about going to war in Iraq, why can't Vietnam Vets criticize Kerry about the Vietnam?

Both CBS and AFS contain the verb "distance."

Here's ("McCain Slams Vets' Anti-Kerry Ads," http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/08/05/politics/main634123.shtml) the CBS version:

The White House distanced itself from the anti-Kerry ad, but declined to condemn it.

I did not see any form of the verb "repudiate" in the CBS version, but the commonality of using the verb "distance" seems indicative enough. It is almost as if they are copying from a common source...
