I'm afraid that Kerry could drop out in early Sep if "Unfit For Duty" gets major exposure. What if the GOP goes into the convention 10 - 15 points up, and then Bush gets a HUGE bump out of the convention? Does anybody really think the Democrats will keep a candidate 20 - 25 points down with no chance to win? What are the legalities regarding putting Shrillary on the Ticket? What are Edwards' chances of winning after a Kerry drop-out???
I've seen and heard enough of Kerry's "facts".
SHEEESH! What a puke!
On the other side you have Kerry - who has shown so many instances of having a consciousness early in adulthood that he was building and grooming for a political career and maybe a shot at the Presidency.
I do not trust people like that. Most people, and I'm sure a majority of voters, do not.
Bill Clinton had his moment meeting John F. Kennedy - and then using a lot of intelligence and a chameleon-like ability to reshape himself (mimicking Kennedy and, in some stolen mannerisms and affectations, Reagan) to leverage his way to the White House.
Kerry is the same kind of climber that Clinton is - just without the capability of projecting charm. Because of that - I think it will not be long before some in the Democratic Party power structure will be hauling out the rulebook to find out what the procedures are when a Presidential Nominee falls off the ticket in say, September. In this book, I hear the sound of the proverbial excrement hitting the fan. It's like music!
Bumping your question -- hope when I wake up tomorrow someone has answered it!
Kerry must stand to account for his adulthood, certainly. But his parents are responsible for his childhood. If his parents couldn't stand him or want him, whose fault is that?
Sober and reasonable.
In other words, Kerry was still bored and was out having fun blasting away rocks? That's the impression I got from the story.

"I would li,ke to know about the group of Vietnam Vets who are supporting Kerry ...How many really knew him ? what is their motivation?"
Clearly, you have never been in the Military. Everyone does bitch while in, but everyone also values the fact that they did serve and the friends they served with. Kerry has brought a shameful amount of scorn and potential dishonor on his unit and his fellow squids - I served in VN and am also offended by this lout's words!

It's about time the word is finally getting out. The lefts fascist propaganda has silenced many from speaking out against a "proclaimed" war hero, but the cream always comes to the top in the end. The truth will set Kerry free. He won't have to lie anymore.
Thanks. Vietnam is very personal to all who served. I wish Kerry would go away, but we have to see his defeat through until the end.
Reading the chapter of the book brought back alot of memories for me. The people on the sampan had to be dealt with as enemy combatants. They were out at night (there was a 6PM curfew in my AO) and were fair game. From my experience, it would be unlikely (for numerous reasons) that the VC or NVA would have stayed around to fire back. Therefore my initial reaction is that they DID NOT return fire. However, I wasn't there. So...
The fog of war is very real.
We had a friendly fire incident in our company when I first arrived. 32 years later, at one of our reunions, several of us were talking about it. Each person had a different take on it. One guy even placed the blame on the wrong guy - he had gone all those years thinking that! It turned out each person was wrong on their take - or had at least gotten one detail wrong. How do I know? I had a better vantage point and was in the platoon that was responsible for the accident.
I don't fault the guy he pulled out of the river. But I wonder also about the others. And the flag and general officers too - Gen Merrill McPeak, USAF is inexplicable to me. At least Adm Crowe was a Clinton/Gore supporter through two elections.
This explains to me your caution re Kerry debunking.
Now I understand why Max Cleland has such an affinity for Lurch.
That picture reminds me of the doctor from Escape from LA that was gonna cut up Pliscan for spare body parts.
