You're still missing the point, Barry Goldwater is no Barry Goldwater after he lost, because the whole point is not for Barry Goldwater to be somebody, but to lay the groundwork so Ronald Reagan can be somebody.

The same is true here, Keyes will in all probability lose, but he will lay the foundation for a GOP revival, nominating a GOP candidate that voted Democratic in the last 3 elections, and gave money to multiple democratic candidates in the past, is not the answer.

Once again, I challenge the people who criticize to answer one thing: stop criticizing, and name your alternative, it's easy to be on the sidelines and be a critic, tell us who you would put on the ticket, and explain why that pick is better than Keyes. Until any of you do that, you cannot be taken seriously

The comparison to Goldwater doesn't stand up in my opinion. Do you really think Keyes will make his home in Illinois permanent and stay here after a loss to rebuild the party? Not in a million years, I suspect...

Keyes is NO Barry Goldwater and he's even less of a Ronald Reagan!

Instead of bringing people TO Conservatism,he TURNS OFF many Conservatives. To know him,is NOT necessarily to like him.

He has yet to accept the proffered crown,IF it has even been offered him.

He is NOT the only person the desperate Ill. GOP is talking to.And he's soooooooooooooooooo low on the list, that this looks like scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I wish that Ditka had accepted the proffered offer, but he declined.
