It's official! Yahoo!
If I were a big Keyes supporter, I wouldn't be using terms like that to other people.
I'm sure you know a lot of folk and in the know of what's going on in most places, but I'm curious to how you would know that.
As I said on another thread it appears Keyes was asked and he accepted. I'm looking forward to see how he handles this from today, forward. Also interested to see what the issues are as he sees them.
He will have very little help/organization and no money to speak of.
The GOP would be crazy to ask him to come and then not support him. He'll have what he needs.
Obama eating him alive, those are strong projections.
Seeing how I don't live in Illinois I can't speak on whether those places you spoke of will support or reject him, but it is definately a race to watch.
I don't vote in Ill, but I think I know the tone. Keyes has no chance. I wonder if Obama will even debate him.
The state party has no money with which to support him. And the national party shows no sign of pouring money into Illinois. One of the reasons Keyes was selected was because he can attract money from out-of-state donors.
Well, I'm afraid, unlike most of the other comments on this thread, you just bring the condescension oozing right out of me. Couldn't be what you say and how you say it that brings on this response? Well, it's getting late, and you are a hopeless and tenacious cause, and will probably still be at it 2 hours from now, with the same inane comments about Keyes. I know this because you have been at it for the entire thread. No rest for the weary. Must get as many Keyes digs in as possible, you must.
In comparison to you, by the way, yes I am one of the wits around here. At least I have my wits about me. For a long time, as have been a Freeper before you decided to come on board, I see. Well, at least you came on board. That's one point in your favor. It's just that your repetitious comments get so tiresome. Has it always been this way? I'm going to go sleep this pointlessness off. Nitey nite.
It was just a comment on all the Alvin Plantinga graduates on this thread.
I don't expect to "win friends" from the left (I'm not implying you're on the left), s much as I hope influence conservatives.
It fits.
You're all negativism and defeat all the time.
Like I said earlier. You've done nothing but make asses of yourselves over this.
You're divisive, rude, insulting and downright mean.
Now, we FReepers kinda like that when it's aimed at liberals. ;-)
But when it is directed at the best communicator of the founding principles in the land, folks just kinda gotta wonder about you all.
LOL! Oops! ;-)
Alan Keyes is a brilliant man, and a hell of an orator. If we get nothing else out of this, the debates will be fun to watch (if Fox televises them). I bet Obama will sweat like Nixon when Keyes rationally, clearly, and firmly destroys every leftist talking point baby-Barak pulls out of his bag of tricks.
However, it's also an unholy truth of the matter that Barak will slaughter Keyes in the general election. I'm sorry, but the world just isn't fair. Gushing, goopey press coverage for Obama will put the socialist over the top in an already liberal state. This November, the Republicans had better be ready to offset the loss of the seat with some substantial gains elsewhere.
Not true. I know I do not support, and I know that Clinton's a Liar does not support his call for mandatory national service. I see his reasoning for it, but it does not square with my very large libertarian streak. Other than that, there is very little with which we (Keyes and I) disagree. It is not him I support so much as an end in and of itself, but the things he will do if elected, which will hopefully benefit "ourselves and our posterity." I'm fairly certain that the national service issue will be a non-starter.
And if and when you are asking people to vote for Keyes, if you seriously believe he should be elected over Obama, I would humbly submit that perhaps it would not be a good idea to state, "He has less than zero chance of winning," and "vote for him anyway" at the same time.
Too bad that the defeatists here have obviously persuaded some of the hopelessness of this race that hasn't even started yet.
God, I hate defeatism.
Instead of bringing people TO Conservatism,he TURNS OFF many Conservatives. To know him,is NOT necessarily to like him.
He has yet to accept the proffered crown,IF it has even been offered him.
He is NOT the only person the desperate Ill. GOP is talking to.And he's soooooooooooooooooo low on the list, that this looks like scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I wish that Ditka had accepted the proffered offer, but he declined.
I think he will debate him, if for nothing else to demonstrate that he (Obama) has candidate "etiquette".
It sure is; and those of us BushBots on here have had to listen to it 24/7 since January 21, 2001.
I can only hope that your dedication to electing Obama in Illinois
Doesn't even deserve a response. No real serious political operative would say such a thing to people he seriously considered his peers.
The reason I have opposed Alan Keyes is because for five years, he's said one thing in public and then had to have somebody come in and explain what he REALLY meant; people on this very forum, people YOU know, were at that dinner and they ALL thought Keyes called Bush evil; even after the transcripts were posted, you all continued to deny what his own words SAID. "The bullet that kills you?"
Your biggest problems with most of us about Keyes is that you continue to insult our intelligence by telling us WE are too stupid to understand what we heard him say.
And this entire thread would have taken a completely different turn if you all had come on here and said, "Yeah, Alan said in 2000 that he would never do what Hillary did, but now he's got an offer he wants and he's changing his mind."
But once again, rather than being honest about it, you come on here and try to make US feel like all of a sudden there is something wrong with US when WE want to hold Keyes to something he said, just like you all have wanted to hold Bush to things he's said.
It's damn insulting to our collective intelligence.
And so is your "list of demands" from Keyes.
Aristotle graduate?
Not surprising to see certain liberal (R)'s show up on this thread trying to spread doom and gloom about Keyes. But enough about those hypocrites.
I hope Keyes accepts! It's always good to hear and see Republican conservatives willing to take a stand on actual issues. It gives one hope. :-)
And if anyone is an expert on insult, that would be you!
I'm kind of glad people like you don't like me; it reaffirms my feeling that I'm doing something right.
And I've been here longer than you have.
Thanks for making my point for me.
