My understanding of NC is that Bowles, because of his previous run, is a well-known name. Most of the Republican's problems come from lack of name recognition, much of which will be offset by advertising and debates.

Also, did Bowles not have a lead over Dole in 2000?

I don't remember Bowles ever having such a commanding lead over Dole. Dole was a household name, deep NC roots, etc. Don't get me wrong, I really hope that Burr wins this race, but the dark clouds are really beginning to loom in this race. I don't have a good feeling about it.

BTW--The whole IL thing is really getting scary. I wish that the ILGOP would get their acts together...but honestly, the WAGOP is not much better.
