One take on it is that sometimes the truth must be denied by some even after it is stated by others. I cannot believe that Katherine Harris would make up such a story; perhaps someone mislead her deliberately. If the story is true, then why she was so specific is the question. It may be political. By being specific, her statement put the heat on the authorities in Indiana. It would have the effect of making the population in that state angry at their elected officials over why they were not made aware of the threat in the first place. The only answer for the authorities is to deny it ever happened.
My thoughts immediately went to last August's blackout.
