Muslims believe they are decendants of Ismael, which was Hagars child. Abraham couldnt keep him thang in his pants and wait on the Lord, so he decided to take one of his slaves to have a child with. The result was Ishmael, his first born son.
When Gods promist came true, that he would have a son with his wife Sara, he forwent the custom of giving all of his inheiritance to his firstborn and gave it all to Isaac.
The muslims believe that the land of Israel rightfully belong to them as the decendants of the first born son, Ismael.

The Muslims always make their fatal mistake in logic by attaching themselves to Abraham through Ishmael.
God actually gave the land to Jacob and his descendants. Methinks this revokes the Muslim quit claim deed to Jerusalem and Israel proper.
Ishmael was Jacobs(later called Israel's) uncle, and to the best of my knowledge and interpretation, the covenant did not include him.
Ergo, the mooselimbs make a fatal mistake in their academic logic, either by choice or by propaganda. I vote for the propaganda angle myself.

They can believe what they like - history shows the arab tribes came from the Arabian Peninsula and crossed paths with the fleeing slaves after the crossing during the time of the Exodus. The OT describes them as 'evil angels' whom the Hebrews met in the desert, who attempted to capture them and caused the generation of wandering in the desert. They overran Egypt and ruled there with great cruelty. The arab tribes from the Peninsula were known as the Amu to the Egytpians, Amelekites, Amalek, 'Shepherd Kings' who came in great multitudes, who destroyed the fields of crops, killed the agriculturalists and their beasts of burden, took the women and children captive...making slaves of them. They were the Hyksos: Translation - king shepherds who waited until the crops were grown and drove their multitudes of camels and goats into the fields and left the people to starve.
In Egypt, the Hysksos, Amu, Amelekites, Amalek, all the same (arab tribes,) 'left no mark nor monument, no evidence of their rule...nothing but destruction...'
Sound familiar? They were doing what this parasitic culture historically always has, documented from the middle of the second millenium BCE.
