Why are you calling the family consumption allowance a "prebate"? It's not a "prebate", it's not a rebate. It's a demogrant. Every man, woman, and child in the country would be entitled to a monthly check from the government regardless if they pay a penny in taxes. There would be a lot of people profitting from this system (getting more than they pay) and the ironic thing is, because the demogrant is tied to the tax rate, these people would actually profit more from a tax increase. You are giving a portion of the population to actually be in favor of tax increases.

It's the largest entitlement program in the history of this country. And I'm shocked that any true conservative would support it.

That's a pretty bombastic statement. I assume that you have data to back up that assertion, right?

In point of fact, it is probably less than the current Earned Income Tax Credit, as far as the subsidy goes.

Are you REALLY that concerned about people who profit from it without spending a penny in taxes? That would include people who buy no groceries, pay no utility bills, no gas for their cars, etc. Is that your real concern or are you just terrified that this proposal is gathering momentum? If so, surely you can think of a more legitimate concern.

I don't know why you are so wedded to the current system. Are you benefitting from it in some way?

The current system is a slave tax and is destructive of every American ideal. The FairTax may not be perfect, but I believe it to be the best and perhaps the only viable plan to rid us of the IRS and the Slave Tax.

This current system strips people of the incentive to work because of the confiscatory rates. The new system restores the incentive. I doubt that many people would (although SOME will) opt to get a larger rebate instead of a real and larger paycheck.

Why do you like the present system? Do you have another plan? Or are you just here to piss in our punchbowl?
