He did two tours. One on a boat out at sea where they stationed ships to fish out downed pilots if there were any. My information is that there never were any in his location.
Kerry then sought swift boat duty which was considered safe. After his switch, the boats missions were changed and he was put in danger. This was not something he sought intentionally.
