The consensus opinion regarding guitar palyer hands is that the nails are either clipped short on one hand or both. If the nails are long -- they are long and SHAPED on the plucking hand only. Most players use the right hand to pluck.

Dolly Parton has extra long finger nails and yet plays guitar. Her guitar , I have heard, is tuned up in such a way that she can use all bar chords.

Believe it or not, I've heard of classical guitar players buying those false fingernails, applying them and shaping them to get the correct sound. Usually it's done before some big recital or concert
Weird to the folks who are not musicians, I know. But whenever you see long fingernails on the right hand, and short cropped fingernails on the left, odds are is that the person is a guitar player.
