Michael Barone nailed it.
The speech was horrible. He stole lines from a large number of Republicans including Abe Lincoln. He even adapted Howard Dean's line about the flag.
The only periods in this speech when he was passionate was when he BASHED the President. The only periods in this speech that didn't induce fatigue or laughter were when he became the anti-war radical that accused our soldiers of atrocity's in Vietnam. He received cheers when he bashed Our President, his administration, patriotism, and faith in GOD.
My only question is WHY did he wait till tonight to allow this message to come through? They restricted everyone was going "negative" then Kerry Flip flops again and does it himself!!!
He also said that everytime Kerry brought up a strong military, nobody clapped or cheered.
You watch, but if anybody dares to question Kerry's military career, they will claim he's being bashed!
I'll bet there were at least 12 flip flops within the same speech.
Like when he said his Attorney General won't trample the Constitution and then said neither political party should use the Constitution for political purposes.
One thing that was very bad about the speech- Kerry speaks in code word shorthand that only makes sense to the sort of people that populate Democrat internet chat rooms 24/7. Half of what he said wouldn't make sense to 90% of the audience.
Barone's prescient. There's nothing original about this guy except his being a vessel for those who hate Bush. In 46 minutes he contributed nothing to showing why he deserves to be elected President. This is one of those that won't take. Trust me, if John F*ckin' does get a bounce out of this convention it will be evaporate in a matter of days. As for the content of the speech, there's nothing in it that registers as presidential.
