The truth is that it wasn't a horrible speech. He did what he had to do. And he succeeded. I don't think it will make a hill of beans difference in the long run, but that's me.
You are correct--it wasn't a horrible speech, and actually, I think Kerry did a good job of bringing up domestic issues that the GOP should address: healthcare, taxes, education, outsourcing.
I also think that Kerry's bashing of Ashcroft will resonate.
Disagree.
The speech lacked any real substance. It avoided Kerrys Senate and Lt. Governor record. Networks have already pointed that out.
There is nothing that will continue to stand out about this speech. And claims that Kerry made were false...and that will come back to haunt him. All they have to do is point out his votes.
Speech Communications is what my degree....and part of my career have been about. And I have read and seen a lot of speeches. This one was not that great at all.
HIS TARGET AUDIENCE WAS NOT IN THAT HALL. Don't let the talking heads fool you. He already has the liberal vote.
He will get a bumb in points.....but a speech like that won't hold those points. And he has had only dem types going to his stump speeches. His next big moment is debate time....and things he said tonight...and other flip flops in his record...are gonna be thrown in his face.
And all the balloons and actors on planet earth can't help him there.
