a lot of people do (My husband and I did before we moved out of state, because we wanted our new bed at the new place the first night we were there, instead of having to "rush - sporaticly buy" a new one in a place we didn't know where the good deals were)...but most don't have their spouse turn up missing near the same time they buy a mattress

RE: Mattress purchase.
I think it was "unclear" whether they had an apt. to move straight into in this case. Hence, the phone call Lori got on Friday. They were not booked into an apt. Mark knew this. He was going to wing it once they got to NC. (Tell Lori the apt. isn't ready to move into right now.) This is my take anyway.

Married couples go together to look for mattresses. Apparently, the original mattress is MIA...when the police went in, he only had the box spring. At the mattress store they said he didn't even lay on the mattress to check it out.
