If the Republican Party was a real, functioning political party, instead of a loose collection of self-aggrandizing individuals, its leaders would have had 2 or 3 candidates lined up to take Ryan's place. There is something deeply wrong with a party that has to go on celebrity hunts to scratch up candidates.

Has the Illinois Republican Party settled on a candidate? Is there anyone being considered? What's their deadline to nominate someone?

But then, if the ILGOP were serious, they wouldn't have stabbed candidate Jack Ryan in the back, in the first place.
