But again, he was pretty far ahead in the polls when we also had a candidate who was young, attractive, and well spoken. There's this underlying assumption that Obama is just another black inner-city socialist candidate who will easily be "ghettoized" into a political stereotype, and whose name will prevent him from ever being trusted by the "mainstream" (whoever that is). Anyone who thinks that is drastically underestimating Obama's appeal, and will be caught with their pants down in a few years when he's a real political force and not just a wunderkind.
