For Democrats, the trip shows that the Bush- Cheney campaign is worried about its prospects in a state that was once reliably Republican.

I realize the Grand Canyon State elected a Democrat as Gov a few years back, but the population base hasn't changed that much has it? Is Phoenix becoming more liberal? They basically controled the state with Tucson being the last liberal outpost when I lived there (pre-1996). I, like you, have to believe the Cheney visit is good news. Otherwise, why would they waste their time on a lost cause (which is what I determined Tucson was and left).

I hear there are concerns with Californians moving to Phoenix making it more liberal, but the governor's race was VERY close, so while there was that, there are other signs we're retaining an over-all conservative majority.

BTW, our governor gets to address the demcon this week...
