(Well, technically... :) Just like I can call myself a Native American. No Indian blood in me, but I was born in Lynn, MA, which is part of America, so I'm a Native
American, aren't I? :)

Well,technically she IS an African...she was born there.I really have no quibble with her over that.:-)

And you and I ARE "native Americans",since we were both born here.

I am so sick of these stupid,PC word games.

Actually, I don't get the criticism of Theresa for referring to herself as African American. She is authentically African American, more so than most of the people in this country who use that label.
