I was hoping somebody would post a thread on that! It was pathetic. Bush pitched a strike in Game 3 of the 2001 World Series, while Kerry throws like a girl. Also, I wonder if Kerry got to meet his favorite player, "Manny Ortez," before the game. And it wasn't exactly a rousing ovation for Kerry, either, even in the heart of Liberal Land.

AND, when Bush pitched, it was shortly after 9/11 and everyone's nerves were shot. He would have been forgiven if he'd bobbled the pitch but it was perfect.

I remember that! I also remember him reminiscing about his college years and pitching for harvard.

He said he realized he had no career as a ball player the day he was warming up in the bull-pen and the coach sent in the 2nd baseman instead........... I fell off my chair I laughed so hard! ROFLMAO!

The dirty secret of "Liberal Land" is that the state has a white population that is mostly hard-core conservatives forced to go independent. Living here definitely radicalizes a higher % of the base. The basic problem here is that Liberal-Lefty and careerist scum in the GOP here in MA have ruined the party and wrecked any chance of building momentum to marginalize the Dems in Congress. Meanwhile, the Left stays in power by literally driving out moderates and conservatives and importing immigrants into Lowell, Fall River, Worcester, and the like. The population growth since 1970 has been only very modest compared to many states (and was next to zero until the late 1990s), while the ethnic composition has been transformed radically (only you never see it much in certain suburban towns because the communities are so segregated). Nevertheless, more than 40% (roughly the silent conservative/libertarian wing of the state) voted in the last major election to repeal the income tax, and voted in one of the country's most conservative governors! Quite an admixture.

Unfortunately, Romney is going to have a tough time in the future because the GOP in Boston is so totally and completely incompetent (despite the vote on taxes, the GOP, and now even Romney, STILL don't take a strong stance in favor of further tax cuts!).

Maybe we should let fans at Fenway chose the electors for Masachusetts.

"Also, I wonder if Kerry got to meet his favorite player, "Manny Ortez," before the game."

He didn't really say that his favorite player was "Manny Ortez," did he? I mean, not only conflating Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz, but spelling Ortiz wrong?!? Too bad his all-time favorite Red Sox player Eddie Yost is no longer with the team---even worse for him, Yost never played for the Red Sox!
