Hey girlfriend! Hope this one, if he did it, spares in in-laws and his own family the anguish the Rochas have endured....Hope he talks soon.

Dad Confronted Mark Hacking at Hospital
Friday, July 23, 2004

I bet that medical problem was an attempt at suicide...I heard a report that he was on sucide watch...

from post #7...

Hacking was reportedly found by police sometime in the middle of the night at the Chase Suite Hotel, 765 E. 400 South, about a half mile from the Hacking apartment, said a hotel staff member who did not want to be identified.

Sources told the Deseret Morning News that Hacking was naked except for a pair of sandals and acting strangely. Citing medical privacy laws, Baird would not confirm whether Hacking was clothed, nor would he discuss Hacking's physical or mental condition.

I guess my question would be: Is he really listening to Elvis's dog, or just pretending?

It's been said that Mark's father was going to drive with them to North Carolina. Moment of truth approaches. He's in a world of trouble. So what if Mark decided to confess to Lori? She naturally became shocked and angered at the deception and screamed she was "out of there".

I'm thinking along your lines.

FNC had a former room mate of Lori's on earlier that said there was no way Mark would have hurt Lori, that he loved her too much for that. My thought is that he finally told her and like you said, she got mad and was going to leave him. Perhaps he loved her so much that if he couldn't have her, no one would, so he killed her. (Shades of OJ?)

It's about the only "motive" I can envision. OJ? Good point.

That would be the easy part. Just go to med school for a few weeks, act stressed out and quit from the enormous pressure. And it's far enough away from home... that would have made more sense.

No. But then, he hadn't gotten as deep into it as this fellow seems to have gone. Who knows, though -- you have to be somewhat disturbed to make up a sister.

I was merely noting the similarities between this case, and something in my own experience, as a way of pointing out that it's not necessarily surprising that even those closest to him might have been fooled.

True. Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw this am. It said "If you think they're normal, you don't know them well enough".

Some people are almost psychotic in their obsession with appearances.

There are people on this forum dedicated to the Petersen saga with ping lists, etc. But not this one. I wonder why?

The media picked another missing woman to obsess on a couple weeks too early. The murder-trial-for-entertainment-crowd already has one.

Hacking entered the hospital Monday night or early Tuesday because of stress, according to his brother, Lance. He would not say what kind of hospital it was. Detective Dwayne Baird confirmed that Hacking was hospitalized but would not give details.

Psst, it is a Psych Unit.

Wink, don't tell 'em I told you ...

The sad thing is that he could have just spilled the beans and took the humiliation, or he could have left town alone, and been the one missing.

Thanks for the ping Jackie-ooooooo! Watch Larry King tonight. Laci and Lori.

Husband told his father he had nothing to do with her disappearance

By Thursday, Salt Lake City Police said they had learned that Mark initially telephoned friends around 10 a.m. Monday to say Lori was missing and telephoned police about 50 minutes later. In between, he was at a furniture store buying a queen-size mattress.

snip

Elizabeth Read, a co-worker of Lori's, said the couple, married for five years, worked different schedules -- Mark, from 3 p.m. to midnight, and Lori from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

snip

Mark and Lori were at a party Sunday night til 8:30. So Mark must not have worked Sunday night if he worked the 3-12 shift. The original story had him working late.

It's assumed since they were married that she slept in that bed all the time so normal bodily fluids wouldn't be of any suspician like blood would.

>>I can't imagine how much adrenalin must have been flowing thru Mark's body to have carried to old queen sized mattress to the dumpster and unload and bring the new one into the house ALL BY HIMSELF.<<

Some of the tricks used by movers show just how easy it is to do such things. Have you ever seen the little square carts, four wheels they use?

So was he high on drugs, why naked and by a hotel? Kicked out by girlfriend? Weird very weird.

The police will make a public appearance of looking at other possible suspects, but they will focus the vast majority of their energy on the husband. I hate to say it, but this lovely girl is no longer with us, and her husband killed her.

what I'd like to know is what sends these men into homicidal mode during their wives pregnancy? 70% !!! of women are murdered by their husbands/BF's and most are pregnant women. Seems like it's really the men who are pre and post menapausal not women!

I thought he was enrolled but didn't graduate? Wouldn't he had been attending classes? If so, then that is where he was.
