Will it be Isakson? Cain? A runoff?
Will that beast McKinney go down in flames to Leviatan?
Who will be the Dims sacrificial lamb in the Senate race?
Here is the place where we'll discuss it.
I have nothing against Isakson. He'll be a boring country club moderate. Specter and Isakson's victories will be significant if Burr, DeMint, and Vitter lose. You will then have RINOS flexing their clout again by arguing that only "moderates" can win elections, even in the South.
Unfortunately they took the largest Jewish section of her former district (Emory/Toco Hills) out of her district in 2002.
Good thing Sonny Perdue defeated Roy Barnes. If Barnes won in 2002, he would have been Kerry's lover instead of Edwards.
Here's a race that didn't get the attention it warrented. The 'Rat primary to challenge Congressman Max Burns (R). With 99& reporting:
John Barrow 27,622 51%
Doug Haines 15,600 29%
Tony Center 8,056 15%
Caine Cortellino 2,540 5%
Clarke County Commissioner John Barrow is well-funded and has the national 'Rat establishment behind him.
U.S. Representative, District 4
Democrat
97% of precincts reporting Votes Percentage
Liane Levetan 19,653 20.6%
Cynthia McKinney 48,313 50.7%
Connie Stokes 4,961 5.2%
Nadine Thomas 2,928 3.1%
Chris Vaughn 1,274 1.3%
Cathy Woolard 18,092 19.0%
176 of 179 reporting in DeKalb
7 of 9 in Gwinnett.
McKinney is over 50% by about 600 votes by my calculations.
Here's the G.O.P. primary results from North Carolina District 5:
Vernon L. Robinson 13,766 24%
Virginia Foxx 13,055 22%
Ed Broyhill 12,549 21%
Jay Helvey 8,476 15%
Nathan Tabor 7,620 13%
Joseph H. (Joe) Byrd 1,453 2%
Edward L. (Ed) Powell 972 2%
David Stephen Vanhoy 485 1%
Given all the mudslinging that took place, I wouldn't place any bets on the outcome. But my instincts tell me to expect a narrow victory for Robinson.
Isakson's plan to build bridges to social conservatives apparently worked. This is the way Republicans get elected. RINOS win by extending some sort of olive branch to cultural conservatives. (i.e Isakson and Gov Arnold). Conservatives win by boasting of their working class roots and compassion for society's misfits (i.e Dr. Tom Coburn).
This is the G.O.P. primary in District 10, to succeed the less-than-distinguished Cass Ballenger.
David Huffman 14,141 35%
Patrick McHenry 10,659 26%
Sandy Lyons 7,888 20%
George A. Moretz 7,707 19%
Huffman is the County Sheriff, McHenry a freshman state Representative.
The NC-05 is Burr's strongest base of support in the Senate race. I hope the GOP candidates "kiss and makeup" or else there may be depressed turnout in the NC-05 come Nov. 2.
Oh please! Isakson is nothing like Specter.
ACU Ratings:
Specter: 42
Isakson: 84
I hadn't been paying a lot of attention to this race other than I knew it was Burr's seat.
From what I read on here, it appears to have been ugly.
What were the issues and who was throwing the most mud...in your opinion?
Good grief, does everybody need to be Jessie Helms to avoid being a RINO?
Isakson's got an 84 from the ACU, and is a 'tax payer superhero' according to the government waste folks.
I perfered Cain too, slightly, but Isakson is by no means a RINO.
Zell said a long time ago that he wouldn't endorse anybody in the race on either side.
Which is just fine. If nothing catastrophic happens, we pick up this seat easily.
There was a poster here a while ago by the screen name: Nathan Tabor. The account is banned here now. The poster would go on every NC-05 thread and smear Vernon Robinson.
A. Never underestimate RAT voter fraud.
B. I still have a hard time understanding how you have trouble voting for a guy with an 84 from the ACU, a 'Tax Payer Superhero', and an all around decent conservative. He's waffled a little on abortion. Bummer. He's fine on everything else.
Have the voters of the 4th District gone nuts. Are they going to send that idiot McKinney back to Congress.
I can't believe that Majette after one term thinks she ought to be in the Senate.
How is that Senate race going to play out.
Is there a Republican opponent for McKinney in the 4th district?
