MISTRESS DISTRESS

MISTRESS DISTRESS

By HOWARD BREUER

July 19, 2004 -- EXCLUSIVE

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — With only a few days until Amber Frey takes the stand in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial, she has told her family that she's tired of being dragged through the gutter by people who know nothing about her.

Smut king Larry Flynt has insinuated she's a prostitute. Trial observers expect her to be portrayed by the Peterson defense as a harlot who pursues married men, and possibly as a participant in Laci Peterson's murder.

In an exclusive letter to The Post and Fox News Channel, Ron Frey says his 29-year-old daughter is proud of the choices that led to her having two children out of wedlock.

"The other day I asked her how she was holding up and she told me, 'It's so hard to hear myself criticized by people who don't know me, especially when they take issue with my being a single parent. But you can choose to remain a virgin until you're married, and then never be asked. Or you can have consensual sex and get pregnant. Then you have two choices: terminate the pregnancy, or thank God for the blessing. I've chosen to give thanks for the two wonderful children I love very much.' "

Frey wrote that his daughter's words "brought tears to my eyes. I hope everyone .............

Peterson Trial

Fabrications, admissibility discussed

REDWOOD CITY -- Lawyers in Scott Peterson's murder trial Wednesday argued over previous testimony that defense attorneys said shows a detective lied on the stand.

Judge Alfred A. Delucchi had planned to discuss a motion on that issue and other matters behind closed doors, but appeals from media lawyers resulted in a public debate.

In the process, Delucchi revealed in court -- without the jury present -- two topics at issue: whether a detective fabricated parts of his testimony and the admissibility of television interviews Peterson took part in before his arrest..............

Peterson trial resumes with questioning of detective

By BRIAN SKOLOFF

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Detective Henry "Dodge" Hendee returns to the witness stand Monday in Scott Peterson's murder trial as defense attorneys continue their attack on the investigation.

Attorney Mark Geragos has been picking apart the case as an exhaustive search for hard evidence that turned up nothing incriminating.

In a barrage of sarcastic questions last week, Geragos forced Hendee to acknowledge at nearly every turn that searches of San Francisco Bay yielded nothing to link Peterson to the killing of his pregnant wife, Laci........

Police misconduct alleged in Peterson trial

Defense is accusing police detective of lying on the stand

The Associated Press
July 19th, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

REDWOOD CITY -- Modesto police Detective Allen Brocchini declared early on he was going to catch Laci Peterson’s killer.

"I probably told that to everybody," Brocchini testified during Scott Peterson’s preliminary hearing. "My intent was to catch … whoever got Laci."

The case, defense attorneys suggested, became personal for Brocchini -- Laci Peterson and her fetus were dead and someone had to pay.

Defense attorneys claimed the detective even told friends of the couple he was going to "take Scott Peterson down."

Brocchini denied making the statement, but acknowledged he tried "planting the seeds of suspicion" with friends and suspected early on that Peterson did the deed.

Now, with Peterson’s double-murder trial entering its eighth week, Brocchini has become a flash point as defense attorneys try to sidetrack the case with attacks on Brocchini’s character. .........

Attorney ridicules theory that defendant made cement anchors

Peterson defense mocks cop's evidence
Attorney ridicules theory that defendant made cement anchors

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scott Peterson's defense attorney staged a dramatic courtroom demonstration Thursday to try to discredit prosecutors' contention that the fertilizer salesman molded cement anchors to carry his wife's body to the bottom of San Francisco Bay.

Holding a block of cement found in Peterson's boat and the plastic water pitcher that a detective had suggested was the mold for the weights, defense attorney Mark Geragos showed that the two didn't match -- the pitcher was easily larger than the weight, was shaped differently and had a dimple the concrete block lacked.

It was an awkward moment for police Detective Henry Dodge Hendee. He had testified Tuesday in the Redwood City courtroom about how police had found the pitcher with cement residue in it in the warehouse that Peterson used in Modesto, but he admitted Thursday that detectives had learned at some point that it wasn't the mold.

Some courtroom watchers said it was also a victory for Geragos in his effort to persuade jurors that Modesto police and Stanislaus County prosecutors focused solely on Scott .........

Scott to pin slay on lover

Scott to pin slay on lover

BY MARY PAPENFUSS
SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

Scott Peterson was posing as a rich bachelor when he took up with masseuse Amber Frey — who went to police after she learned her lover had a pregnant wife who was missing.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Amber did it. That's what Scott Peterson's defense is expected to argue when prosecutors call their star witness in the double-murder trial: Peterson's mistress, Amber Frey.

Several legal observers believe defense attorney Mark Geragos will try to portray the young single mom as so desperate for a husband that she helped kill her rival, Scott Peterson's pregnant wife, Laci.

"Geragos has already tried to lay the foundation that Amber Frey was somehow involved in Laci Peterson's murder," said Dean Johnson, a former San Mateo County prosecutor who is following the trial.

Geragos has already grilled Frey's pal Shawn Sibley - who played matchmaker for the Modesto fertilizer salesman and Fresno masseuse - about when the women first learned Scott was married, and not the rich bachelor he pretended to be.........

I think scott just wanted to look at himself on national tv and wanted to control the time so he wouldn't miss it

Fiesti, it turns out that report I read was wrong: Beth Karas says the stain in the driver's door pocket DID test positive for blood.

As for what he was mopping, I had a wild thought last night. What if he held Laci over the side of the tub, holding her head underwater and drowning her? The force of being pushed against the side of the tub might account for her broken ribs.

And WHAT would be all over the place after such a deed? Water! Water would be all over the floor, b/c she would presumably struggle. So, he mops up... water! So, what's suspicious about WATER on mops??

If he did this almost 24 hours before he had any police in the house, and used the mop(s) to sop up the water, the last sheen of wetness would be good and dry. He could also use towels, and could have put them in the dryer and then folded them back up in the towel closet.

See, I thought of this possibility b/c I was picturing him smothering her with a large pillow, such as those which most people keep on their queen-size beds. But if he did that, I wondered, why did she not reach out frantically from under the pillow and scratch the hell out of his face and arms?

I'm not going by that picture the cops did of him in his undies, b/c that was done 10 days after the murder. I'm going by the people who all saw Scott on the 24th and 25th, and none of them seem to have seen any scratches on him.

So then I thought, if he was choking, or drowning, her from behind, she wouldn't have been able to get in as many (or any) scratches while struggling.

So then it occurred to me that maybe he forced her head underwater in the tub and drowned her, and that her ribs got broken b/c of the tremendous force with which she was pushed against the side of the tub.

Does it sound plausible??

Let's just assume you and the others who suspect Scott was going to dump Amber after he fooled around, are correct. We don't know that for sure. We do know for sure he told Amber his wife was DEAD. If Geragos can convince the jury that ole Scotty was just a run-a-round and a no good womanizer, then that's still not a realistic motive for wanting his wife dead. That's what Mark is implying.

It scares me to think Scott will walk free because most men who just fool around on their wives don't kill them. See where I'm going with this?

It's far better, IMHO, to focus on Scott's infatuation with Amber and his need to follow thru on the terrible lie he told Amber... that his wife was indeed "dead".

Beth and another got a concrete/cement tutorial this weekend and say the pitcher/mold refutation no longer seems like a big deal....Imagine getting educated....What seemed an AHA moment in the courtroom wasn't.

Fishermen do not use the same mold over and over...The THs are cautioning the prosecution against going too tightly bound to one theory on how he disposed of Laci..

I agree Dev but I'm sure they HAVE to have certain witnesses on before they can get to the good stuff. I hope Detective Beuhler is next. He was Amber's handler. Incidentally, I just read on another forum that Rick Distaso has tried multiple murder cases and that his win recordd is 90%!! I'm not so sure that even this part is in his overall plan. I believe the time is coming SOON, when he will rise up and take COMPLETE CONTROL. We always knew that Blood was not going to be the evidence anyway. Peterson had this case well planned. The Prosecutor likewise, has his case, well planned. He's known for absolutely coming out of the box on fire, in the last part of his Prosecutions. In this one, I believe the last half will change considerably.!! I'm sure he's well aware that folks "think" he's losing.

That's is what the media does. They have majored on this bull$hit ever since OJ Simpson travesty trial. Look how media people ended up with their own shows after that trial. However, from posters who have access to the transcripts, they state that reading the transcripts is like reading the opposite of what the media is reporting is happening. And the transcripts are much more positive for the Prosecution. For instance, that pitcher. Did you ever anywhere read that the detective said that they decided very shortly after finding it, that it WAS NOT the actual mold for making the anchors!!

I think maybe he could've been cleaning up cement residue, but I think he mostly kept his cement work at the warehouse!

If he DID mop up cement dust, THAT should surely be left on the mop!!

He doesn't have the kind of courtroom personality to do that..only objections and the judge can control Geragos. I've seen many a defense lawyer seem like his passion will save the day...and lost...

I am hoping the jury accepts the fact that only the hair and a "one in 112" match of MDNA exists, there was nothing found in the bay, no forensic evidence of murder and start to resent Geragos and his tedious cross exams that indicate this fact over and over.

Laci had a problem with one of the other guests expected at her mother's home on Christmas Eve and couldn't decide if she wanted to be there while this other person was there. She waited a long time before telling her mother she would be there. This was discussed a long time ago so can't point you to a written word. I'm sure others will remember.

yes it does devil... a good hammer lock on het to walk or drag her to bathroom....who knows but that bastard how he did it...could be he pushed her in pool too and she hit side to crack ribs and maybe even knocked her out..lots of water to mop up then too....why don't we get Felos to get into scotts mind so we know what happened lol (sarcasm) I think the slowness of this trial is getting to me I don't think is so smart to commit the perfect murder..he has just been lucky from what I see so far...keep praying the proscution has just 1 tidbit of forensic

Well I saw him rise up once in the Prelim. He looked like a different Prosecutor. I agree with you that he doesn't have the flamboyance of Geragos. But frankly, Geragos would NOT be impressive to me. To any rational person, his flipping all over the courtroom, his sarcasm, etc. should NOT cause the Jury to intentionally overlook the evidence. In my opinion, anyway, Peterson himself, and his OWN mouth, is one of the most powerful things against him as well as the fact that Laci and baby washed up 90 miles away from Modesto right where he was!! The frameup theory just sounds plain stupid as does all the other "theories" Geragos has thrown out. In fact, I heard a Defense Attorney last week on one of the shows (Lisa Bloom and James Curtis's show), say that Geragos is hurting his case by constantly changing his theory. The Jury will absolutely know that he has NO case really.

It's pretty clear isn't it fiesti that Snott obviously attacked Laci from behind. If you look at some of the pictures of her and him - he's huge compared to her. Whatever this coward did, he didn't give her a chance to fight back. I have always thought he punched or kicked her in the ribs causing her to vomit. Last week that Dr. DiMaeo said the same thing. He stated that in his opinion, her ribs were broken BEFORE she died and likely at the hand of her killer.

I read she did not have presents for all Ron's family...Probably all just speculation...

I don't really know...Others speculate Scott did not want to go..and Laci was covering for him...
