I have never forgotten what was said during the transition to the Bush admin. That there were some mines planted for the new admin., by the outgoing clintonistas. This must be what was meant.
Those d*** fools couldn't even take national security seriously.
as you know, the SCOTUS granted habeas rights to the Guantanamo prisoners.
its the liberal media that is at the core of our problem in this country. they divide what would otherwise by a sensible consensus amongst 65-70% of americans, by presenting lies as facts, to a populace who spends very little time trying to stay informed on these kinds of issues.
I know, but what is to become of us?
This is madness.
And the dumbing down continues.
FYI
Potential terrorists released due to lack of jail space, congressman says
BY EMMA PEREZ-TREVIÑO
The Brownsville Herald
July 23, 2004 Middle Easterners with possible terrorist ties have been detained after entering the country from Mexico but released for lack of jail space, said U.S. Rep. Solomon P. Ortiz, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness.
It is true. It is very reliable information, from the horses mouth, and its happening all over the place, Ortiz, D-Texas, told The Herald on Thursday.
Its very, very scary, and members (of Congress) know about this. We have contacted several agencies, and I have talked to some people, but I cant say who.
Ortizs comments come amid Thursdays release of the 9/11 panels report into events leading to the deadliest attack on U.S. soil and as the House Appropriations Committee passed an amendment to the Transportation-Treasury Bill to stop the use of Mexican identification cards in this country.
Currently, matricula consulars are used by Mexican nationals to open bank accounts in the United States and obtain drivers licenses in some states.
The amendment, submitted by U.S. Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas, will go before the full House in September.
Culberson said the cards present a danger to national security, pointing to the June 26, 2003, testimony of Steve McCraw, assistant director of the FBIs Office of Intelligence, before a House Judiciary subcommittee.
The ability of foreign nationals to use the matricula consular to create a well-documented, but fictitious, identity in the United States provides an opportunity for terrorists to move freely within the United States without triggering name-based watch lists that are disseminated to local police officers, McCraw testified. It also allows them to board planes without revealing their true identity.
At least one individual of Middle Eastern descent has also been arrested in possession of the matricula consular card.
Ortiz had not heard of the case that McCraw cited or that any potential terrorist had been detained with a matricula card.
It seems to me that this is just against Mexicans, Ortiz said, because (U.S. officials) are picking up a lot of (potential terrorists) and releasing them on their personal recognizance and they (the suspects) dont return to their court dates, and they (U.S. officials) dont know where they are going.
Culbersons spokesmen Tony Essalih and Jeff Morehouse told The Herald on Thursday that U.S. Attorney Michael T. Shelby of the Southern District of Texas told Culberson that several Middle Easterners have used Hispanic surnames to enter the country undetected.
This was during a meeting in Houston May 25, Essalih said.
The Middle Easterners are from Yemen, Essalih said.
Shelby is not issuing any statements, said Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy Herrera of the Southern District of Texas, noting that the office is prohibited from confirming or denying any investigation.
That is a federal rule, Herrera said.
Culbersons spokesmen said they didnt know how many potential terrorists Shelby identified that have used Hispanic surnames to enter the country.
They said that the potential terrorists apparently entered through the U.S.-Mexico border and were detected in South Texas and as far north as Houston.
Essalih said he had not heard any reports that potential terrorists were being released due to lack of jail space.
He said, It would be terrifying if that were the case.

I sure hope they break this Berger scandal wide open. This is serious stuff that cannot be ignored. The media can pretend the Berger theft is no big deal all they want but FR and talk radio will not let this die. They can take that to the bank.
I was hoping to catch Loftus tonight but Bachelor's doing a "best of" show. I wish Bachelor would change the format of his show a bit.
This story cannot be allowed to die.
the next two presidential elections are critical, probably the most important in the history of the country.
if Bush wins in 2004, and Hillary is defeated in 2008; at that point, I don't believe that the left as currently structured in this country, will survive as is. the media elements that they control slip a little bit in the ratings and circulation each year - while alternate sources providing a different prospective grow in popularity. but its a slow process.
but the flipside is also true - if the Dems will, they will cement a permanent majority through increased immigration and the demographic shift it brings. at that point, its all downhill, barring some kind of separtist movement (peaceful) that re-defines the organization of the Republic.
Stomach-turning-nauseating-idiocy!
Is this the Twilight Zone???
Agreed. We should be managing the airlines and the agencies.
yes, I think Wednesday of this week was the last "live" show. not sure if Loftus will be on with Eric Shawn on FNC Sunday (11AM hour I believe).
And I'm afraid it won't be such a peaceful separatist movement...
Is there a thread for that one Davey?
It should be breaking news.
===grinding teeth===
I don't think the story of the actual theft of the documents has any "legs", even though it is illegal. The real story is what was in the documents, and what he did with them: how were they used, were they leaked, what was he trying to protect, etc.
For sure.
Relating to the terror in the sky article...
Terror in the Skies
Claim: Reporter encounters terrorists on airline flight
who are making a dry run at assembling a bomb
on-board.
Status: False.

I guess we can't rely on Snopes anymore for the truth.
Can't remember which TMers were following the snakeheads - but here's another story.
Invasive Fish Species Found in Pa.
Invasive Fish Known for Its Appetite Discovered in Philadelphia Waterway
The Associated Press
PHILADELPHIA July 23, 2004 A nonnative fish known for its appetite and ability to wriggle short distances on land has been discovered in a Philadelphia waterway, raising concerns about its effects on native species.
An angler caught two Northern snakeheads in a lake last week and contacted the Fish and Boat Commission, which then caught three more snakeheads. The commission said it believes the fish, native to Asia and Africa, are present in other local waterways, perhaps including the Schuylkill and Delaware rivers.

Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.
Makes you wonder...More than wonder.
I am wondering just what this post at FP means. It is the one that Sean was reffering to when he was talking about war. It seems that Iran is really helping AQ to get us.
