I hear you.

but do you realize the extent of the communications capabilities, financial arrangements, logistics, etc required to keep a network of 1000 terrorists in sync for such an attack? it would be like trying to run a medium sized business, but totally covert.

Agreed. I'm not saying it would be 1000 actual attackers, I'm just saying it could very well be more than the 19-20 that it took to implement 9-11; much more. Also, let's pretend for a moment that it could be 1000 actual attackers... What if their orders were simply: Divide up into groups of 2-10 people, figure out some way to cause problems in the US, and on XX date, at XX time, make your attack. There wouldn't need to be any coordination at all. One group causes a pileup on the freeway; one group is snipers; one group blows up a gas station; one group lights a bunch of wildfires; one group holds a school hostage... etc. I shouldn't even be posting this!!!

All the Mexican restaurants in this town have almost identical menus. How's that for coordination? It does not take much to coordinate. There are lots of these restaurants. And they are all over this region. They are frequented by military bigwigs. Marine and Army brass frequent them. Navy brass frequent them. Talk about a great place to gather intel.
