Forgive my cynicism and "who cares" attitude, but the way I look at it, if there's another riot, real estate values in the area will plummet like they did 12 years ago. Then maybe I could afford to buy a house.
I never got a house at a "fire" sale before.
You might care, when your tax $$$'s go into the shady black companies and 'community leaders' pockets afterwards, or if they remember not to burn their own communities this time and come to your area.
Well, you probably could afford to buy a house if you wanted to get one there. I just checked South Central zip code 90001 on realtor.com and the cheapest thing that I could identify as a two bedroom single-family listing is around $150k.
I don't know if you'd really want it, but it is there.

Kinda like after a hurricane in our neck of the woods. People are lining up to buy the damaged property.
Any California homeowner who does not have multiple firearms, and a forklift-pallet's worth of ammo for them, is a fool.
