They can try all they want, but this goose is cooked. The new Iraqi gov't is simply co-opting former Baathists to "come in from the cold". Once they come to an agreement, it will be land rush business to try and become like the Kuwaitis.

This is really the hope and aspiration of most Iraqis. They've all seen, either firsthand or on TV, all the fabulous malls, expensive cars and easy living. Ain't no reason at all why they can't enjoy the same lifestyle.

Once the Iraqis are handling the bulk of the security work it will be clear that the "resistance" is really subversion by the Iranians (and others).

Free Iraq's first major challenge may be another war with Iran.

Our present strategy of a gradual handover seems to be working.
