I've just been listening to Shaun Moran, an agent with the Border Patrol talk to Roger Hedgecock on his San Diego show (AM600, streaming audio available at the link). Moran says the Border Patrol has informed him and all agents that, contrary to policy up to now, there will be no more paid media appearances. Moran has been the official spokesman for the union representing Border Agents, and has made many paid appearances to inform the public in that capacity, most recently in regard to the illegal alien sweeps that the Border Patrol has recently made. Moran says he's sure this new policy is retaliation for the heat and embarrassment that's been generated as a result of these sweeps and the consequent banning of same by the DHS after the illegal alien advocacy groups started screaming about it. Moran says the public is entitled to the truth and that his union is going to make sure that they get it, despite this new policy. Moran says that, if necessary, his union will pay for his appearances (or Moran will do as he did today and make them while on vacation, before work, etc.) just to make sure the word gets out. If you'd like to register your objection to the banning of the sweeps and/or the attempts to stifle the dissemination of information regarding same, there's contact information for Asa Hutchingson's (Under Secretary for Border & Transportation Security) office at NBPC1613.org. Keep on e-mailing, faxing and calling. Disguise your voice, tell different stories, use your imagination! Even if all it does is annoy them, at least somebody there will know we're ticked off.
I guess Asa never expected the reception he got. Too bad, ain't it! ;^)
Actually, it is Joe Baca(D-Ca) who got the ball rolling, but you already knew that, but refused to acknowledge.
No he didn't, that's why all of a sudden it's tight lips and a media black out.
What you mean some on FR would actually have to campaign against Boxer and Baca in the electoral arena and not complain 24/7 about Bush.
JMO, I think you ask for a bit much.
Ah. In other words, you know that you're in a minority of malcontents, so you're forced to resort to fraudulent means to make your numbers seem larger than they are.
That's clear.
If it's "free speech" why does he have to be paid to do it?
Silence!
Because they want to be paid for trashing their boss.
And how come no criticism by the union president of Joe Baca(D-CA) who intitated the stops of the sweeps.
Yep, the next few months are gonna be loud and shrill.
With none of your union shrieks directed at the person who intitiated the stop of the sweeps, Joe Baca(D-Ca).
You may be correct that Baca got the ball rolling. And why is Asa playing ball with Baca?
Get back to me when the union prez has a bad word for Baca.
It was a simple question. No answer?
We should just make them a state and get it over with.
The answer is that the buck stops with Baca, he intitated the stop of the sweeps. They'll be throwing snowballs in hell before this union says a bad word about Baca(D-CA).
Hutchison is running scared because no one is buying his dissembling on his prevention of the Temecula Border Patrol agents from apprehending Illegal Aliens
Only the political naive and those with an agenda while waving their pom poms and attending political rallies may swallow that noise. To the rest of us, it's very clear.
We estimated during LA drive time, during the past couple of days, more then 2 million people were probably tuned in to KFI. This doesn't include those that can hear the station 3 states away...
"Crickets".
It's not my union. Remember? The Border Patrol does it for a living; I do it for fun -- and payback for the damages to my property and community.
