QUARTET TO PALESTINIANS: REFORM OR LOSE AID

JERUSALEM, July 7 (Reuters) - The quartet of Middle East mediators told the Palestinian Authority on Wednesday to carry out long-delayed security reforms or risk losing international support and funding, diplomats said.

A Western diplomat said the quartet envoys from the United States, Russia, the United Nations and the European Union told Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie in a meeting the international community was "sick and tired of empty promises from Yasser Arafat and lack of action on security reforms".

"If this (reforms) is not done, there will be no international support and no funding from the international community," he told Reuters.

I didn't say they would get it.

Nonetheless, if I was one of the Mad Mullahs in Qom, a few million thrown in Errorfat's direction to 'buy his obedience' would be well worth it. Besides, their own people are being knifed and beaten in the streets by their enforcer-thugs and have no say in how the Iranian Petrodollars are spent anyways.

In addition, besides Iran there's Saudi Arabia's Whahabbi-nutzoids who are always willing to get together to pass around the collection plate for a good cause, like the annihilation of the Joos.

Is anyone in the Palestinian Authority taking this seriously? No!! What reason as been given to them to take it seriously?

With saddam out of power, the saudis and the syrians will have to pick up the void with funding.

I agree.

These seem to be the same empty threats that are routinely trotted out when the European Union wants to affect an intimidating, tough guy, "I can be like the U.S. too" pose.

They never succeed in accomplishing their main stated goal, i.e. actually convincing the corrupt, violent, PNA to agree to alter its course of action and pursue a path of honest negotiation.

It does however, accomplish another, peripheral goal, which is letting these Euro-bums off the hook for condoning the continued presence of Yasser Arafat and his terroristic cabal within the West Bank.
