Just a thought, but those who strive to the uttermost for so-called "separation" of church and state are both anti-church (anti-community) and anti-state. They wish to keep church and state "separate", the better to dismember each principle separately. It's not entirely clear that church and state are meant to be fully separate; there being a Christian humanist tradition which maintains both church and state under its wings, in separate activities perhaps though not separate dimensions.
In fact, the rights of all are most secure in a Christian nation.
