Osama Bin Ladin's May 6, 2004 Audiotape Message
Thanks to God and prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Mohammad and his family and friends.
This letter is for the Nation in general and our Muslim Brothers in Iraq in particular.
God’s Peace mercy and blessings be upon you
I greet our solid people in Iraq; the land of heroes and I greet the Mujahidin for the sake of God there, and I tell them you are the flags of the Arabs and the banner of Islam, the Moslems are incapable of thanking you enough.
A year has passed since the invasion, and the invaders are incapable of implementing their plans that they have prepared because of God and your Jihad and the Jihad of those that supported you, May God reward you greatly.
The enemy was surprised by the strength of the resistance and things continue to move in a direction that is against their desire. The results that were achieved on a national and International level by this blessed Jihad are very big and positive on many levels, including human loses for the enemy and a great amount of money wasted, and they continue to take casualties. Thanks to God, to Him we are grateful.
I want to emphasize some important points:
1- That big and dangerous event that made things clear to all is when Bremer, the occupier, announced that he will not accept that Islam would be the source of the law, which means that he does not want Islam to be the faith of Iraq. Instead he brought a new constitution that is according to his desire. This shows that the Governing Council is only a puppet in their hands that they use to pass their plans on to the people. On the other side, it shows their deep hatred toward the religion. This conflict is religious and the confrontation is a war of cultures. They want to liquidate the Islamic identity all over the world. This is their true position toward us, their position toward other people is that they can coexist with any other system on earth, east to west because these systems can be changed and deceived and they can steal their resources, enslave and Americanize them anyway they want. The true challenge is in the Islamic world where the main challenge is religious and not economic or military. Their goal is to destroy Islam because they know that their economical, intellectual, military and security plans in our countries cannot be implemented as long as Islam exists in the area. The Muslims have the faith, will and ability to resist their plans and push back their aggression and hit back. Now it has become clear to everyone that this American campaign is not related to WMDs or to save the Iraqi people from suffering. This is an evil occupation and Jihad is the duty of all Muslims in Iraq; in the north, center and in the south. Those that were excusing themselves because their religious leaders are in the Governing council, now after the Governing Council adopted Bremer’s infidel constitution they have no excuse. Islam cannot share with any other source of law. This means the members of the Governing Council, by adopting this constitution, became more of infidels. What is the difference between the political leaders like Fahid, Husni, Jabir and Saddam and the rest of the rulers and the religious leaders in the Transitional Infidel Council? Our problem with these leaders is that they cannot rule us with law of God while being loyal to the United States. They use the American pressure on them as an excuse and this is the same trap that the members of the council have fallen into and the same judgment applies to them. Statement number 17 of the evidence against the Rulers for abandoning the nation and not being faithful to the law of “no god other than God” applies to the religious leaders in the Governing Council and to any leader in any other similar Council anywhere in the Islamic world that would do what these people have done. The most important thing in the phrase “there is no god but God” is that there is no law provider or legislator other than God. Making the law is the specialty of God. Whoever accepts this council and its constitution, is sinful and an infidel. It is vital for the faithful to bypass these infidel leaders. Reform and liberation comes with wise leaders and good order, and orders are designed by God. The responsibility should go to those who are better. If those older leaders abandoned the faith, then those that follow, even if they are young, should take over because the truth is more important than anything else. The righteous of the nation in general, and particularly in Iraq, should abandon these political and religious leaders and remove those in leadership who do not support Jihad, who are silent in the face of the aggressors. They should take control and declare the truth and raise the banner of Jihad against the Crusaders and those that have abandoned the faith. Those that help the infidels against the Muslims or help the occupation or any of its faces like temporary or permanent government are doing something that is contradictory to Islam. This person’s money and blood are permissible and his wife will divorce him. Iraqis should declare Jihad not only on the crusaders but also on the government that abandoned the faith and those that help it. Every Muslim in the world has to support this jihad with his life and money.
2- What they call the transfer of power to the Iraqis is a known trick to numb the people and to end the armed resistance. They cannot deceive the Mujahidin and the faithful in Iraq. There will be no self rule in Iraq as long as there is one crusader soldier in the country and as long as it is not ruled by Islam.
3- Bush, the Musaylmah of this day and age said that Iraq is the main front in the war on terrorism, which means that the main front for fighting Muslims is in Iraq. It is vital for all Muslims to concentrate their effort to face this attack. I call on the youth to use these open opportunities to do their great duty of defending the faith and saving the nation by supporting Jihad with money and incitement and by fighting our enemies in Palestine and Iraq. It has been said that if you have an opinion you need not hesitate to act upon it.
This is a valuable and unique opportunity to energize the nation and to give her the freedom to fight in Iraq and to bury the global infidels. Be careful of those that deceive themselves and others and believe that they are in control; they have left the country open to the crusader and those that rejected the faith. It is time for the righteous people to free themselves and to improve their situation. We should be aware of the magic of the media. We should not watch the catastrophes and the events that are taking place; we should be fighting the enemy and making the events. This war is crucial, we either go up in glory or down humiliated. We are at a crossroads and this is an important issue for the entire nation. It should be know to you that the great lie by America about the reform in the Muslim world is nothing but a copy of Bremer’s project in Iraq to put away religion, to steal the resources, kill the people, violate the holy sites and attack women in their houses in the middle of the night. Don’t you see? Aren’t concerned about your religion and your sisters? Know that defending the lands of the Muslims and the land of Haramin starts in Iraq. Wake up and be aware of the size of the danger and the speed of events and go to the battles of Jihad. Your ultimate duty is to stop the enemy. God knows, if I were a student, I would abandon everything and follow God’s orders. If I were a shop owner, I would abandon it and join the Mujahidin.
I would tell you a lot about money if I get the chance to talk to you. Jihad is the defense of Islam. This current problem is not the lack of education, for we have a lot of it. The problem is in sitting down and not working because of the lack of trust and honesty. Religion cannot stand with the crumbs of our money and time. It stands by the sword.
Blessed are those that decided on the issue and followed the Prophet. Go Fight and kill for the sake of God, and we ask God to accept you as martyrs.
The Iraqi people have comforted the hearts of the Muslims in the month of Badr and after that in Nasiriyah , when they killed and injured dozens of the occupying soldiers. In Baghdad, Fallujah, Ramadi, Mosil and Tikrit, they have inflicted on the enemy great financial and moral defeats by shooting down airplanes. They gave them a taste of what the Muslims in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan have tasted.
Greetings to Samara and Ba’qubah and other cities where the banner of jihad has been raised. We tell them to be patient; you can win this if you have more patience than Bush and his mercenaries.
Before closing let me remind you of a story about the Muslims when they were fighting in North Africa, the leader of the infidels put a reward for the person that would kill the leader of the Muslims. ‘Abd-Allah Bin-al-Zubayr suggested that the Muslims give the same reward to the person that kills the leader of the enemy. A Muslim man killed the leader of the enemy and he got his reward in full. As you know, America has promised a reward for those that kill the Mujahidin. We in the Al-Qa’idah Organization are committed to a reward of 10,000 grams of gold to the person that kills Bremer, the occupier, or his deputy or the Commander of the Armed Forces or his deputy in Iraq. The UN is nothing but a Crusader and Zionist tool hiding behind some relief efforts. Who handed Palestine to the Jews other than the UN? And did anyone other than the UN divide East Timor? Did any entity other than the UN justify the sanctions and the death of more than million Iraqi children? The UN continues to play many roles against the nation, therefore, whoever kills Kofi Annan or the head of his mission to Iraq or his representative; Al-Akhdar Al-Ibrahimi will get the same reward of 10,000 grams of gold. Also a reward of 1,000 grams of gold goes to the person that kills an American or British soldier or a civilian. And 500 grams of gold goes to the person that kills any soldier or civilian from countries like Japan and Italy. Because of the security situation, delivering the rewards will be as soon as it becomes possible. Whoever dies after killing one of the occupation soldiers, his big reward is for him and for us when God grants us martyrdom in His sake, and his small reward will go to his beneficiaries.
In the end I call upon the Muslim youth and say to them, join the war against the Crusaders and the Jews and always mention God. We ask God to grant us either victory or martyrdom. I call on the youth in the Arabian Peninsula, Palestine, Syria and Jordon to come and help their Iraqi brothers. The fire of the war is hot and the crusaders are stepping on Iraqis and have killed and imprisoned thousands of them. With Gods help, they are fighting against the crusaders, sacrificing themselves and their valuables.
I pray to God, to accept our martyrs and heal our wounds and end our imprisonment and give strength to our heroes and grant them victory, for we have no supporter greater than you. Give them defeat and grant us victory and protect us from hell. Oh God, give victory to the Mujahidin against the infidels in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Philippines, Chechnya, Pakistan and everywhere.
