Have you ever used a "live CD" such as knoppix? That seems to be the way to go, sort of, for an internet combat mobile because it is a read only operating system basically, you can not overwrite the operating system, very interesting for security purposes. Just wondering. I tried knoppix recently for the first time and was amazed.

Knoppix is a good live CD. I carry several flavors at all times, including Gentoo w/Unreal Tournament Demo, Knoppix, BBC, Suse Live, and Knoppix. I use Debian for all my servers and Linux workstations. Knoppix is also installable to HD via an included script. Since it's Debian based, package management is simple. Because it's derivative it can be broken too easily, IMHO.

You can carry a USB jump drive or similar to store your settings and specific data.

My primary security tool is a version of Rescue CD that I modified to add some tools and take advantage of newer libraries. It's also Debian based.
