All is well while Eddie Albert is alive. He's 96!
If that's true, Eddie was already a (young looking) fifty-something during his Green Acres days. I hear that Alvy Moore (Hank Kimball) is in his 90's, and stays in touch with Pat Butrram (Eb). Both are reportedly evangelical Christians. I remember Eddie doing his dramatic readings of Bible verses on the Ed Sullivan show.
Sadly, Alvy Moore passed away a few years ago. Most people remember him as absent-minded Hank Kimball. But he was also famous in the sci-fi underground. He produced the weird 1974 cult film "A Boy & His Dog", about a young man (Don Johnson before Miami Vice fame) and his high IQ psychic dog, wandering around post-atomic apocalypse America and fighting various mutants. Alvy Moore also acted in that film. He was highly regarded by sci-fi fans.
Albert is currently doing radio commercials for St. Jude Children's Hospital (founded by-ta da!- Danny Thomas) and still does interviews for documentaries and TV specials, discussing his war record (although an ardent pacifist, he nonetheless served heroically in WWII), and environmental issues. He was also the voice of The Vulture on the recent Spider Man cartoon.
Pat Buttram, who played Mr. Haney, and Alvy Moore, who played Mr. Kimball, both died in the 1990s. Tom Lester played Eb and is still alive. Green Acres is one of my favorite TV shows.
